(OTTAWA) August 9, 2024 — The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce has joined more than 115 chambers of commerce, boards of trade, and associations across Canada to express deep concern over a potential work stoppage at our country's major railways.
Our joint letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Ministers Steven MacKinnon and Pablo Rodriguez urges the federal government to immediately intervene and do everything necessary to avert a disruption in Canada’s Class I railways.
This labour disruption would significantly limit Canadians' access to goods and products, driving up prices and exacerbating affordability challenges. The letter calls on the federal government to take immediate action to protect Canadians and uphold Canada's reputation as a reliable trading partner.
