Douglas College intern makes big impact at Tri-Cities Chamber

(TRI-CITIES) August 12, 2024 — Douglas College student Amalee Truong completed a four-month internship at the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce as the capstone of her Post-Baccalaureate Diploma program.

Truong had a variety of responsibilities at the Chamber, including assistance with events including the Chamber's Golf Classic in June, and the Tri-Cities Young Professionals Wine Club en Blanc in July.

"As my time at the Chamber wraps up this week, I cannot believe how fast time has flown by! It has been an incredibly exciting and eye-opening opportunity engaging with members of the Chamber and supporting the team in the planning and execution of multiple events this year. I would like to extend my most heartfelt thank you to everyone I’ve had the privilege of meeting, for sharing your stories and knowledge with me," said Truong.

"From the very first day, Amalee's enthusiasm and willingness to contribute were clear, allowing her to quickly establish herself as a vital member of the Chamber team," said Sandra Jette, Manager of Marketing and Member Experience, Tri-Cities Chamber. "We are truly excited to see where her remarkable talents will lead her. There is no doubt in our minds that she has a bright and promising future ahead."

Douglas College Business Interns contribute bench strength and energy to organizations as they gain valuable hands-on experience related to their academic work.

"Many of our Chamber members are having difficulty hiring right now, for a variety of reasons," said Leslie Courchesne, CEO, Tri-Cities Chamber. "If you're an employer looking for some additional help, I highly recommend Douglas College intern students, who work 12 hours per week for four months on a volunteer basis."
