Tri-Cities Chamber Statement on Crisis in Ukraine

(TRI-CITIES) March 11, 2022 — The Chamber joins the international community in condemning the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia and we express our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Canadian community, and our local Ukrainian businesses during these tragic times.

Alongside our counterparts from the BC Chamber and Canadian Chamber networks, the Tri-Cities Chamber is committed to supporting the efforts of our government and allies, and we will continue to advocate at all levels of government.

WAYS TO SUPPORT UKRAINE

Call for Volunteers
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) is currently collecting information from individuals and organizations that may be able to assist. Support could include employment, housing, immigration services, legal, in-kind donations, transportation, daycare/childcare, and more.

Financial Support
Canadians wishing to make a humanitarian donation may do so through the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal. Donation receipts are provided, and the Government of Canada will match donations, up to $10 million, until March 18.

The Canadian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (CUCC) is also working with associations, businesses, and chambers, to provide assistance and aid for Ukrainian businesses operating during this time.

Humanitarian Assistance
Individuals or groups seeking to provide humanitarian assistance in Ukraine can contact Global Affairs by email at IHA-Ukraine@international.gc.ca.

Job Placements
The Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce is working with The Ukrainian Canadian Congress to help provide job placements for Ukrainians who are arriving to Canada. If you are aware of open positions within your networks and would like to assist with this or other related matters, please contact Olha Mandyuk at omandyuk@cucc.ca.

Additionally, for those interested in volunteering their time/expertise in support of Ukrainians affected by the war in Ukraine, you can also share your information with The Ukrainian Canadian Congress here.

Refugee Sponsorship

Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program allows Canadians to help resettle refugees as individuals or families that qualify under the refugee and humanitarian program.
