(TRI-CITIES) February 4, 2022 — Leslie Courchesne, CEO of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, made the following statement regarding the current restrictions on the events industry.
“Our member businesses in the events sector have been hit very hard by the pandemic, and are fighting to survive. Our Chamber is urging the B.C. Government to reconsider the current restrictions for events, as the long-term viability of this vital industry that employs thousands of people and generates billions of dollars in revenue, is quickly moving past the point of being able to recover.
Our Chamber is convinced that events operated by industry professionals can provide a safe environment for all participants using similar health protocols as followed by restaurants, retailers, fitness centres, and theatres.”
