(VICTORIA) March 29, 2023 — Tri-Cities Chamber Board Director Adel Gamar and CEO Leslie Courchesne joined representatives from Chambers and Boards of Trade across the province to connect with the Premier and Cabinet. The event was hosted by the BC Chamber of Commerce.
Premier Eby's address stated the government's priorities are housing affordability, safer communities, and the economy, including positioning BC as a global leader in the low carbon energy future.
Eby said the government needs to help with the rising costs of living, and building an economy that can withstand the headwinds, shocks, and impacts we are seeing globally.
"We believe the economy is the people of BC. By building up our people, we build our economy," he said, citing that our province has had the fastest and strongest economic recovery in Canada, post-pandemic.
The Tri-Cities Chamber's recent statement on the 2023 BC Budget urged the government to do more to reduce the cost of doing business, particularly for small and medium enterprises.
