(WHISTLER) June 3, 2023 — Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Jenifer Wright and Vice Chair Daniel Richardson joined representatives from chambers and boards of trade across the province for the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting and Conference in Whistler, May 31 to June 2.
More than 170 representatives from chambers and boards of trade across the province met to deliberate on policy resolutions covering a broad spectrum of provincial and federal issues critical to the success of the business community. More than 60 policy resolutions were voted on, including topics ranging from agriculture, exports, housing, health care, public safety and crime reduction, to rural development, and transportation. Resolutions that receive 2/3 majority support from the members attending the sessions become BC Chamber of Commerce policy for three years.

“Strong advocacy is key to ensuring our local businesses continue to thrive and is one of the most important focuses of the Chamber's work in the community, so I was very excited to represent Tri-Cities businesses at the BC Chamber conference along with our Vice Chair Daniel Richardson,” said Wright. “When chambers and boards of trade work towards leveraging the power of our collective voice with all levels of government, we can affect substantial change that make our businesses, and in turn, communities stronger. If you want to be a business leader and contribute to your community, your local chamber is a great place to start — we need you to be part of strengthening our voice.”
“I’ve had the privilege of travelling the province over the last year, visiting over 50 local chambers of commerce and boards of trade to hear what’s on the minds of our business communities,” says Dr. Greg Thomas, Chair of the BC Chamber of Commerce 2023 Board of Directors. “What I have heard – loud and clear – is the need for policies and programs that make British Columbia a more welcoming place to do business. Our robust grassroots policy development process provides the BC Chamber of Commerce with a unique perspective on issues and allows us to be a positive and bold voice on behalf of business.”
The full set of approved policy resolutions will be published in the coming weeks, and will be used to guide the Tri-Cities Chamber and BC Chamber advocacy work at the provincial and federal levels over the coming year.
