(TRI-CITIES) November 14, 2023 — The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting today, where members elected new and returning directors to the 2024 Board, and approved the incoming executive leadership. More than 90 members attended the event, held at the Vancouver Golf Club, Coquitlam.
Daniel Richardson, Managing Partner, BTM Lawyers, is the new Chair of the Board for 2024, joined by Jennifer McKinnon, Director of HR, Manhas Health and Executive Director, Downtown Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association, as Vice-Chair. Eric Salvador, CPA, Senior Manager with Rise CPA Inc., is appointed as the new as Treasurer. Jenifer Wright, General Manager of Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club will serve as Immediate Past Chair.
Richardson, McKinnon and Salvador signed an oath of office with Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart, as required by Canada's Boards of Trade Act.
Newly elected directors for two-year terms on the Board are: Katherine Kim, Senior Account Manager, Business Development Bank of Canada, Justin Levine, Lawyer, Golbey Levine Lawyers + Advisors, and Devin Sharma, Senior Manager People + Culture, Kirmac Collision and Autoglass.
Adel Gamar, CEO & Co-Founder, GLG Ltd., and Ryan Jamieson, Deputy Executive Director, Coquitlam Public Library were re-elected to the Board for their second two-year term.
The executive and elected directors will join current directors who are entering the second year of their term: Chris Chong, Owner, Butter Studios, Mike Forrest, Vice President, Forrest Marine Ltd., Reihaneh Mirjani, Vice President, Immigrant Link Centre Society and CEO, Soul Bite Food, Pulkit Sharma, Project Manager, Peter Kiewit Sons ULC, and Vivien Symington, Owner, Club Aviva.
Ryan Whittle, Partner at Areti, stepped down as past chair, and now joins the Chamber’s Board of Governors.
Current Treasurer Ryan Gorder presented the draft 2022 audited financial statements, which were approved by the membership along with the re-appointment of Clearline CPA as the Chamber's auditors for the 2023 fiscal year. Gorder is stepping down as Treasurer after three years in the role.
2023 Board Directors Kathryn Millar and Vineet Verghese are completing their terms and did not seek re-election.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the Chamber's strategic planning, annual budget, and other governance matters, working in conjunction with CEO Leslie Courchesne. Board Directors also represent and promote the Chamber throughout the Tri-Cities and at the provincial and national levels.
The AGM was sponsored by the Coquitlam Foundation, Port Coquitlam Foundation, and Port Moody Foundation, who together provided a presentation on their contribution to our communities and how businesses can be involved.
The Tri-Cities Chamber works to strengthen business and community in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore, and Belcarra through advocacy, benefits, and connections for its members.
