(COQUITLAM) January 2, 2024 —The Consulate General of India, Vancouver in association with the Youth Leadership Society of BC and the Tri Cities Chamber of Commerce organized a business outreach event on December 16 to promote India as an investment destination. Held at the Executive Plaza Hotel, Coquitlam, the event was attended by Consul General of India Mr. Manish, Mayor of Coquitlam Richard Stewart, Tri-Cities Chamber Board Directors Adel Gamar and Pulkit Sharma, Tri-Cities Chamber Government Relations Committee Member Ravinder Safaya, government representatives, local business leaders, and students.

Consul General Manish gave a detailed presentation on the state of Indian economy, current business and policy reforms, ease of doing business, developments taking places in infrastructure, fin-tech and the startup ecosystem. He highlighted sectoral opportunities in agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, construction, and more. The Consul General also discussed the economic relationship between India and Canada, and in particular, BC. He invited guests to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in Gandhinagar, January 10-12, 2024.
The event also featured an exhibition on various kinds of millets and their health benefits and One District One Product (ODOP). The Consul General requested those present to consider including millets in their daily diet and presented opportunities to invest in the millet startup ecosystem.
During the Q&A, the Consul General spoke about investment opportunities for PIOs/NRIs, youth engagement, steps taken by India on women empowerment, and the foreign service as a career path.
A cultural performance by diaspora artists was also performed during the event.
The Consul General presented a copy of book Modi@20 to Mayor Stewart, and presented certificates of appreciation to volunteers.
