(HALIFAX) October 22, 2024 — Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce CEO Leslie Courchesne and Board Vice Chair Jennifer McKinnon attended the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting and Convention in Halifax, October 17-19.
Approximately 400 representatives from Chambers and Boards of Trade across the country met to deliberate on policies covering a broad spectrum of federal issues critical to the success of business and our economy. In total, delegates considered more than 40 policy resolutions on topics including finance and taxation, the future of work, transportation and infrastructure, the digital economy, and more. The final set of approved policy resolutions will be published by the Canadian Chamber in the coming weeks.
“Well-developed policy and effective advocacy to ensure our local businesses thrive is a key focus for our Chamber, and I was pleased to represent Tri-Cities businesses together with our Board Vice Chair Jennifer McKinnon at the Canadian Chamber conference,” said Courchesne. “When Chambers and Boards of Trade work together across the nation to leverage the power of our collective voice, we can effect significant change to make business better, and communities stronger.”
The conference featured speakers including Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO, BDC, Rowena Chan, President, Sun Life Financial Distributors (Canada) Inc., Tareq Hadhad, Founder & CEO, Peace by Chocolate, and more, on a variety of economic and business issues.
