Tri-Cities Chamber hosts delegation from The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka

(TRI-CITIES) October 23, 2024 — The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce welcomed leaders from The Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce during their cross-Canada tour focused on trade, tourism and investment opportunities.

"Exploring business connections for the Tri-Cities through chambers of commerce in developing international markets is a welcome opportunity, and we were delighted to extend a warm welcome to the Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council," said Leslie Courchesne, CEO, Tri-Cities Chamber. "Sri Lanka has entered a new phase of stability, with plans underway for an impressive Port City district in Colombo with unique advantages for trade and investment."

The island nation with a population of 23 million is located south of India on major shipping routes bridging east and west.

Hosted by Tri-Cities Chamber CEO Leslie Courchesne, the delegation was led by the Council's President Pryantha Chandrasekara, Vice President M.H.K.M. Hameez, Past President Lionel D.C. Silva, COO Osanthi Samantha Watawana, and Committee Member A.R.M. Irshad. The roundtable was spearheaded by Tri-Cities Chamber Government Relations Committee Member Ravinder Safaya, with attendees Sri Lanka British Columbia Honorary Consul Jim Bennett and Tri-Cities Chamber members. The meeting explored opportunities in sectors including education, smart agriculture, ceylon tea, automotive, IT, travel and tourism, gems and jewelery, spices, and manufacturing.
