Desiree Dupuis, Ruben’s Shoes
Desirée Dupuis is passionate about creating change and is making an impact on the lives of vulnerable children through her work with Ruben’s Shoes. She believes that all children deserve access to education.
Desirée is a small town girl with big dreams. She grew up in Aldergrove and moved to Victoria to complete her BCOM in International Business.
In 2013, Ruben’s Shoes was born. Founded by her best friend Kelly, what started out as a passion project to collect some shoes has turned into a large-scale international NGO. Desirée has been working alongside Kelly to run all aspects of the operations from logistics to marketing, event planning and fundraising. Ruben’s Shoes has sent 60,000 pairs of shoes around the world and is now operating an elementary school. Ruben’s Shoes has recently acquired land in the Dominican Republic and is building a Secondary School.
Desirée sat on the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three years. As well, she participated on the Economic Development Committee for many years. Desirée was an integral contributor to the inaugural Economic Summit.
It is a pleasure to award Desirée Dupuis with the 2018 Chamber Member of the Year Award.
