Ethical Waste Services has been running as a social enterprise in the Tri-Cities for the past five years. It is a full-service demolition company offering demolition of construction projects, pick-up and recycling of construction debris. It also provides environmental services including asbestos testing and asbestos abatement.
The company believes in doing what’s best for the community. Each year, Ethical Waste Services donates 50% of its profits to help youth and the team supports The Friends of the Refugees. This year, it also started Backpack buddies, a program feeding children in need of food on the weekends.
Last year, Ethical Waste Services recycled over 6 million pounds of drywall. Its commitment to environmental sustainability inspired the company to launch a pilot recycling program. In the first year, the team sorted through 4.5 tonnes of waste and recycling resulting in only 50 pounds sent to the landfill. Usable recycled materials go to organizations in need including Habitat for Humanity, Beas Kloset, and Tri-City Transitions.
