Graeme Hankey

Mortgage Broker
Dominion Lending Centres

Graeme Hankey immigrated to Canada at the age of nine. He moved to the Tri-Cities the summer of 1981 and has been here ever since. In his 36 plus years in the Tri-Cities, he has raised his three children and owned a local automotive repair shop for 10 years. For the last 5 years, Graeme has been working as an independent mortgage broker with Dominion Lending Centres and in 2016 received an award for reaching top 1/3rd in nationwide company sales.

June 2014 Graeme joined the chamber of commerce and 6 months later was asked to join the ambassador team. He is currently finishing his third term as a chamber ambassador and has been very involved in serving both the chamber and community.

Graeme has provided support by helping with extra needs at events, welcoming new members to the chamber and sitting on additional organizing committees for larger chamber events. He has actively advocated for the chamber and has been personally responsible for several new members joining. Graeme has given his time to pack shoes for “Rueben’s Shoes”, spoken at entrepreneurship classes for Douglas College and shared his story at Bizz talks 2016.

From all these experiences he brings a wealth of business and people knowledge to the board. Both his careers have required serious problem-solving skills and deep technical knowledge of those industries. A number of years ago, Graeme learned that in order to solve problems you must first understand the people. To understand people, you have to listen and be able to win their trust. Without trust you have a weak foundation. If you can hear the people you can understand what their obstacles are and thus you have a starting point to provide for their needs.

Graeme brings with him a vast knowledge of local community and diverse business experience to serve the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce.
