New View Society

Finalist: Not-For Profit Of the Year

Established in 1973, New View’s longevity is evidence of its ongoing excellence in its field. New View was pioneering Psycho Social Rehabilitation long before it became the standard of practice in mental health support services. New View is well-known, and well-respected in the Tri-Cities – we work in partnership with Fraser Health, BC Housing, local municipalities, local businesses, Rotary Clubs, and our local communities. Our retention of staff, as well as community support is extraordinary – many staff members have been working for over 20 years with New View, and one person is at the 31st year in 2017. One of the founding volunteers is still highly involved with our Christmas lunches and community events. Our community events invite everyone to experience the New View Family.

New View is proud to host various open house events ie. Bell “Let’s Talk” day, and community pancake breakfast prior to the May day festival. They also invite the community to attend their Mental Health First aid courses. Featured in the Tri-City News for our Fundraising efforts through the Aviva Community Fund for the Society’s innovative PEER (People Encouraging Everyone’s Recovery) program. They also have a family to family program for guidance and support.

Mental Health is something that New View really focuses on. New View was featured on Tricities Community TV promoting the Mental Health First Aid course. The course helps individuals learn how to recognize the signs & symptoms of mental health issues, provide initial help, and guide a person towards appropriate professional care.
