Funding for not-for-profits is now available through the Emergency Community Support Fund which will be distributed via Tri-Cities Community Foundations, Canadian Red Cross, and United Way. See below for a breakdown of the funding available as well as eligible organizations and projects.

Note that organizations may apply more than once so long as the applications serve different projects. Applications will be reviewed weekly.

Canadian Red Cross – NON-PROFITS

  • Grants between $5000 and $100,000
  • Application deadline: June 21, 2020 (activities must take place between April 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020)
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Eligible non-profits:
    • Not be a registered charity or qualified done
    • Be undertaking direct service delivery to those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of COVID-19
    • Be incorporated or established in Canada, or have principal registered office address in Canada
    • Have annual revenues of $1,500,000 or less
    • Have been in operation on or before December 31, 2019
    • Regularly dedicate at least 50 per cent of core activities to direct service delivery
    • Require a minimum grant of $5,000
    • Have a governance structure with at least three people on the board, management or committee, etc.
    • Have internal measures in place, such as practices and procedures for internal controls and accountability
    • Conduct activities that fall into at least one of the activity areas listed.
  • Eligible projects:
    • To respond to increased demand for goods and services as a result of COVID-19.
    • To adapt or realign existing service delivery and programming to a COVID-19 reality.
    • To deliver new services or programming as a result of new needs or losses arising as a result of COVID-19.
    • To recruit, engage and support volunteers to deliver services required to respond to COVID-19.
    • To support efforts to increase community awareness, information and education related to COVID-19.

Tri-Cities Community Foundations – REGISTERED CHARITIES

  • Nearly $600,000 will be distributed to our community
  • Grants up to $75,000
  • Application deadline: July 27, 2020 at 11:59 pm (activities must take place between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021)

  • Eligible organizations:
    • Those running projects at the community level that serve vulnerable populations that have been especially affected by COVID-19
      • Clearly address a pressing social inclusion or well-being need cause by COVID-19
      • Serve one or more vulnerable groups
      • Be carried out in a short timeframe with a reasonable budget before March 31, 2021
