Ron received his CMA designation (Certified Management Accountant) in 1978 and has been employed in a variety of accounting positions from clerk to VP Finance over the years. With an entrepreneurial bent he has started, owned, operated and managed many businesses and has provided support and guidance to small business owners as a business broker, and as a consultant preparing Business Valuations and helping clients write their business plans to achieve third-party funding and assist with growth and management.

He took on the role of Executive Director of a charitable foundation for 3 months which became five years implementing better business practices and concepts to improve efficiency and standards. He gained experience working with other not for profit boards at that time. He has been on smaller non-profit Boards, including the Rotary Club, The Main Art Drift Society, the Burquitlam Senior Housing Society, and has, in many cases, held the roles of President or Treasurer as well. He is passionate about the Starfish Pack Program, which provides weekly backpacks of food for kids from needy families, that he oversees in the Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial and the Poco Winter Blues Fest, the main fundraiser for that program.

Ron is a Toastmaster, having been with the Telespeaker’s Toastmasters Club in Burnaby for five years and uses the skills learned there in everyday business situations, as well as assisting other club members in achieving their club goals.

He is a solopreneur in his current business – Solutions That Fit/LegalShield providing business support services to small business owners with affordable, unlimited access to business lawyers, business consultants and business resources to help them make better decisions, and creating level playing fields so they can compete with larger businesses, to achieve a better bottom line.

Ron is interested in assisting in the growth of the Chamber and knows that his skills and experience can be beneficial. He also recognizes the benefits to be gained by his own business by giving back to the Chamber and the local business community.
