Working in an office is great, but sometimes you need a breather from the paperwork. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite hikes around the Tri-Cities for those sunshine-filled days when you just need a breath of fresh air.

1. Crystal Falls

Where: starting at Karley Crescent (runs parallel to the upper part of the Coquitlam River)
Time: 2 hours
Distance: 7km (round trip)
When: year-round but watch out for the little streams of water crossing the pathways
*note: this trail is dog and bike friendly

2. Buntzen Lake Trail

Where: Buntzen Lake
Time: 3.5 hours
Distance: 8km (round trip)
When: year-round
*note: there are also smaller hikes around Buntzen Lake

3. Coquitlam Crunch

Where: Lansdowne Drive
Time: 1.5 hours
Distance: 4.5km (round trip)
When: year-round
*note: this hike is primarily used for exercise

4. Minnekhada Trails

Where: Minnekhada Regional Park
Time: Varies
Distance: Varies
When: year-round

5. Sasamat Lake

Where: Belcarra Park
Time: 3 hours
Distance: 8km (round trip)
When: year-round

This is our country’s natural playground with breathtaking views, ladders, bridges and waterfalls. At times we all need to step outside and remember just how beautiful our backyard is.
