Tri-Cities Chamber Reaction to B.C. Budget 2022

(TRI-CITIES) February 24, 2022 — Leslie Courchesne, CEO of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, made the following statement in reaction to the 2022 BC Budget released by the BC Government on February 22.

“The Tri-Cities Chamber is pleased to see the BC Government invest in areas we have been advocating for, together with the BC Chamber of Commerce and chambers across the province, including Indigenous reconciliation, infrastructure, housing, homelessness and mental health, and the transition to a low carbon economy.

“However, we wanted to see more to help businesses recover from a very difficult two years, and make British Columbia a more competitive place to do business. This budget does not include any relief for the costs of the new paid sick leave program, no significant tax breaks or incentives, nor lower the Employer Health Tax threshold.

“Our Chamber looks forward to discussing the 2022 Budget in more detail with BC Finance Minister Selina Robinson tomorrow.”
